VIDEO: Dr. Neil Shah explains how stand your ground laws benefit the most vulnerable

Republican candidate for governor Neil Shah sat down with Alpha News in the wake of the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict to explain why Minnesota needs better self-defense laws.

Rittenhouse is a teenager who was proven to have acted in self-defense when he shot three men, killing two, after a left-wing mob attempted to kill him in Kenosha, Wisconsin, at a BLM riot last year. However, Shah points out that low-income Minnesotans may not be able to access the same justice Rittenhouse obtained if they are put in a defensive situation.

This is because Minnesota lacks “stand your ground laws,” making legal defenses more difficult in self-defense cases.

According to Shah, if Minnesota were to pass stand your ground legislation, the people who live in the most dangerous neighborhoods of the state would benefit, since they could defend their families without having to raise millions of dollars to beat a legal system that’s stacked against them.

“In particular, some of our citizens that are living in the most vulnerable communities, lower to middle socioeconomic status, certainly don’t have those means [to hire high-end attorneys] and the state has unlimited prosecutorial resources,” Shah observed. “How equitable is that?”
